Girl Running

Running these days is almost comical! So, I usually have Tully on his leash and Ayla in her stroller.  Ashton sometimes rides along side, sometimes stays at home.  Recently, I have been encouraging Ashton to try to run some since she is super motivated to make State for swimming.  It is always a crap shoot!  I never know what "Ashton" I am going to be running with.  Sometimes it is my sweet, happy, funny Ashton.  Sometimes she is all business. Then other times this new creature aka the "pre-teen"  surfaces and I swear someone has replaced my kid with another one! Man, hormones are fun!! Not that it is all bad, it just is shocking how different things can be at times.  One example: I give her a goofy look and she says, "WHAT?!" And I get an eye roll.  Sometimes the exact same look will result in an eruption of giggles!  I think this is just the beginning....at least we can always run side-by-side while carving out a new path.

What a Week

Ayla gets sick with HF&M (yes I am abbreviating because I have serious issues with the "proper" name of the infection) and can't leave the house for THREE days because she is contageous. Ashton gets a fever that spikes at 106... off to the E.R... Strep throat. Three big bottles of some nasty smelling amoxicilian suspension. Lindsay starts to run a fever... back to the hospital... Yep, Strep but instead of an antibiotic course she has to get a GIGANTIC penicilian shot in the left side of her rump roast because she is still nursing Ayla. That evening Ashton breaks out in a crazy burning itchy rash all over. Call the doctor... she is allergic to her meds... Now she has to start a new course of antibiotics and take benadryl every six hours to keep her from trying to tear the skin off her body. All this and I don't have so much as a sniffle or scratch in my throat... lucky me, of course I feel awful seeing them all so down and out. Thank goodness that week is over!

Well...We know why she has been crying

That's right folks, Ayla has Hand, Foot and Mouth disease. Such a nasty terrible name for a relatively harmless viral infection... They can't come up with a better name for it? Since booger encrusted shopping carts seem to be a major culprit in transmitting this little nasty, I propose the name of Shopping Cart Pox or as any Southerner would call it, Buggy Pox.

Why is she crying so much?

Lately Ayla has been having a terrible time sleeping.  She was up until 2 a.m. and was up to meet the world by 6!  It seems that there is no way to comfort or satisfy her, She wants Lindsay and as soon as she lays down with her Ayla says she wants Ashton.  She says she is sleepy then she says she wants to play.  As soon as you pick her up she wants to get down.  When she gets upset there is almost nothing we can do to get her to calm down and she is set off at the drop of a hat.  Ugghh!
